Tres brujas le dicen al general escocés Macbeth que será rey, y su esposa se asegura de ello con una daga. Luego la corona resulta ser una maldición: culpa, fantasmas, paranoia y un reino que cae en la tiranía, mientras Macbeth sigue peleando por una profecía que cree que lo hace intocable. Es la tragedia más corta de Shakespeare y la más oscura, un estudio de la ambición comiéndose un matrimonio y a un hombre.
