102 Books on the Shelf

October 15, 2026

Yesterday the shelf held 54 classics. Tonight it holds 102.

The new arrivals are the giants: War and Peace in 365 parts, Les Miserables, Ulysses, The Divine Comedy with all one hundred cantos, The Iliad, The Odyssey, Don Quixote, Crime and Punishment, The Count of Monte Cristo, Tarzan of the Apes, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and forty more of the most loved books ever written.

Every one is free to read right here, every one arrived with a painted cover, and every one can be downloaded as a PDF to keep. Thirteen books on the shelf also carry full human narration, so you can listen instead of read.

One swap worth knowing about: Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas sails here in its classic public domain translation, because the newer translation is still under copyright. We would rather be honest than fancy.

Start anywhere. The librarians recommend Crime and Punishment on a rainy night, and The Prophet on a bright morning.

More books are coming. This shelf has room to grow.
