Culture

Kind people, real learning.

Starvard runs on three things: kindness, authenticity, and a good work ethic. It is the same culture that carries across all three houses, E2, Starvard, and The Studio, tuned for a university: students and teachers, learning in the open, with nobody treated as a product.

How we work

Four things we actually practice

Not posters on a wall. These are the rules the university runs on every day, in the courses, in the Discord, and in how the place gets built.

Pillar 01

Kindness first

Helping comes before everything here. When a new student arrives, the first move is a welcome, not a sales pitch, and tuition is zero forever, so there is never anything to sell them anyway. When someone is stuck, the first move is a hand. Dave, our founder, puts it this way:

“Money is good, but helping comes first here. The helpers get the tips, the roles, and the first shot at everything. Smart, good, kind people: raise your hand.”Dave Craige, founder
Pillar 02

Authenticity

Real people, real names, real work shown in public. Our courses are built in the open, our teachers teach under their own names, and our numbers are the real ones, even when they are small. No fake polish, no pretending, no inflated claims. A university where nobody has to perform being impressive is a university where people can actually learn.

Pillar 03

Good work ethic

Show up, learn something visible, report honestly. The student rhythm we teach is simple: a chapter a day beats a binge once a month, one finished course beats ten started ones, and a short honest note about what you learned fixes it in memory. Small honest progress, every day, beats big promises, for students and builders alike.

Pillar 04

Incentives with a kindness filter

The rewards here follow good acts. Finish a course and you earn a certificate with your name on it. Help other students and the community notices, with thanks, with roles, and with a teacher’s chair when you are ready for one. Kindness and effort come first, and the recognition follows them, never the other way around. Want the chair? Apply to be a teacher.

The Cast

Every good culture needs a comedian

Marty keeps it light

Serious learning goes better with laughter in the room, and Marty is ours. She is the comedian of the cast, the one who lands the joke in the middle of a long study day and reminds everyone that this is supposed to be fun too.

She is not just comic relief, either. Marty teaches Comedy 101 right here at Starvard, because timing, honesty, and paying attention to people are real skills, and they happen to be culture skills too. Kind, quick, and completely herself: that is the standard she sets.

Our Manifesto

The words on the wall

This started as The Studio’s manifesto. It now hangs over all three houses: E2, Starvard, and The Studio.

We believeit’s better to put a song out there that’s imperfect than to wait until it’s perfect.

We believeeverybody can be musical. Not just talented people. Everybody.

We believeit’s good to share what you make with other people, even when it’s scary.

We believea real song about a real moment beats a polished song about nothing.

We believethe small details are what make a song true. The exact moment, the exact feeling.

We believeone person saying “this meant something to me” matters more than a million streams.

We believein being open. Our songs, our lyrics, our numbers. All out in the open.

We believeyou’re not a stream count. You’re a person.

If you’re still becoming, you’re one of us. Welcome.

Make great music. Connect with people. Bring more goodness into the world.

Spread goodness.

Sound like your kind of place?

Come as a real person, start one free course, and help somebody in your first week. That is the whole audition. The Discord is where the students and teachers hang out.
