The world in charts you can trust
How the world is really changing, in charts that show their sources.
Our World in Data gathers what we know about how the world is changing, from child health to energy to how long people live. Every chart shows where its numbers come from, and many reach back a century or more.
Some stories are hard, but many show real progress that rarely makes the news. It is a calm, honest place to check a hunch against the evidence.
One live chart from Our World in Data: child mortality falling across two centuries. Charts are CC BY; the data sources are named on the chart.

The chart below shows the share of children who died before age five, falling for two centuries. On the full site, search any topic you care about and open the sources under a chart: they show their working, which is why teachers trust it.
